Yesterday my daughter and I had dinner with my son and his fiancee in Medina, Ohio. We had a beautiful clear view of the sun as it was setting.
You may have seen the sun appearing more red due to the wildfires out West, since the smoke affects light particles given off by the sun. The light particles have to pass through the smoky haze and the blue and yellow particles get "shaved off" according to meteorologist, Chris Roller. That smoky haze has been seen throughout most of the Midwest. I'll always remember this year for a lot of things, now I'll also remember it for the year of the Red Sun. It is of course a true devastation what they are experiencing out West, and that this beautiful sun is a result of that.
Here is an image of the sun with teasal in the foreground. I thought it made for a very lovely silhouette image.
